Even though some things may seem alike, no two things are ever exact copies.
Have you ever relaxed on a park bench and looked around at the complexity of the natural world? For example, notice how two roses may appear to glow in a lovely shade of pink, but if you look closely, the color is slightly different, and the petals are unique in shape and form.
You are like a beautiful flower!
Like a rose, you, too, have distinct characteristics — the unique complexities that make you, you. No person is a carbon copy, not even identical twins. There will never be anyone quite like you. Allow yourself to reflect on that for a minute.
Pretty awesome, right?
As you traverse this stage of your life, I’d like to encourage you to take time to consider your exceptional qualities and gifts. You were meant to share your talents with the world in a way that only you can.
One of my favorite quotes is by Ernest Holmes, New Thought writer and founder of Religious Science. He says, “We must do as it is written, but we write it ourselves.” You came here with a specific purpose, but it’s up to you to script it out. What will you create in your second half? Deep within, you possess the power to begin cultivating the life you desire. Your thoughts, words and actions will determine your success.
What is YOURS to do?
What’s preventing you from creating a fresh, new chapter in your life? Remember, you’re not a clone. In his essay, “Self Reliance,” Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Envy is ignorance, imitation is suicide.” Stop comparing yourself to others. Stop thinking you’re too old or you don’t have what it takes to pursue your dreams. You’re still here for a reason, and that reason is to shine your light.
Imagine what your life will be like when you are actively pursuing your passions and fulfilling your Divine contract. In his popular 1969 song, singer and actor Frank Sinatra belted out, “I did it my way…and not in a shy way!” What will be your legacy? What will be written on your epitaph? Begin living those creative, inspirational words now!
What do you want to accomplish? Acknowledge your talents and reflect on what makes you unique. Go all out during this important stage of your life. Make a pact with yourself to live your dream, your way!
